Ultrasound

An ultrasound scan shows the flow of blood in the neck arteries that go to the front of brain. Narrowing of these carotid arteries by the buildup of cholesterol called plaque within the wall of the blood vessels increases the risk of stroke. Patients will receive a CD & hard copy colored picture of their carotid (neck) arteries (pictured on other side) to share with their physician.

ABI (Ankle Brachial Index)

 A screening test for blockages in the arteries that go to legs. Such blockage is called Peripheral Artery Disease, or PAD. Ten million people have PAD, and 90% do not know they have it. A person  with PAD is two to four times more likely to have a heart attack compared to the general population.

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm

An Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) is an expansion or ballooning of the abdominal aorta, the main blood vessel that carries blood from the heart to the rest of the body.  As the aneurysm expands, the wall weakens and may rupture often resulting in sudden death.  The majority of people with AAAs have no symptoms so early screening is often life-saving. Aortic aneurysms may be diagnosed by ultrasound scanning, a non-invasive, painless test without any adverse effects.

AngioScreen® measurements provide an assessment of risk that can be enhanced by consultation with your personal physician, who may recommend other measures of vascular risk and health. Remember that all screening measures have a range of validity and none are completely accurate or 100% predicative. However, our data, along with your own personal picture of your arteries, will provide you with important information regarding your risk assessment.
