Our behavioral health services offer the ability to provide individualized care across three distinct programs in a 52-bed in-patient setting. Design for each patient's unique clinical needs, the programs include:

Our new unit provides our patients with both individual and group based therapy programs, including age specific programming and co-occurring disorders.     JFK Medical Center’s new behavioral health services unit is now helping to ease the critical shortage of behavioral health beds in our area. Our 31-Bed Unit will combine an environment of safety and comfort for our patients. Our program is designed to provide individualized treatment based upon each patient's clinical needs. We will provide adult acute psychiatric inpatient care and become a designated Baker Act receiving facility that will treat a wide variety of behavioral health diagnoses in a calm and soothing environment.

    One program specifically provides a therapeutic environment for anxious, depressed or bipolar patients. This includes seniors suffering with acute mental health changes. Our new unit will provide our patients with both individual and group therapy programs including medication management. Our program is designed to provide quality care and stabilization for patients, in a safe secure setting utilizing a multidisciplinary team approach.

    Access Team

    Our Access Team provides free assessments 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This opportunity is available to anyone who wants to explore any behavioral health or substance abuse issues that may be troubling you or a loved one. Based on the information shared during the assessment, our trained professional staff will make recommendations for treatment.

    The Access Team responds to psychiatric emergencies at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute by making a behavioral health assessment and medical exam available in the emergency room. This evaluation will help determine what type of medical attention the patient needs to begin the road to recovery.

    Lawnwood Pavilion is a freestanding behavioral health facility located near the campus of Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute. The Pavilion features 24-bed, semi-private patient rooms, cafeteria, gym, pool as well as indoor and outdoor group areas.

    The Inpatient Adult Unit offers a comprehensive, short term stay, psychiatric services in a safe, supportive, therapeutic environment where psychiatric needs are assessed. Treatment is delivered through a wide range of interventions that include crisis stabilization, daily sessions with a psychiatrist, individual and group therapy sessions, family therapy sessions, education courses and medication management. Treatment is customized to focus the patient’s individual needs which will aid in restoring mental health and sense of well-being.

    If suffering with substance abuse, we provide a Dual Diagnosis Program Tract which is a specialized program. After undergoing a safe, comfortable medically-supervised detoxification, patients can begin their recovery process.     Young Inpatient Behavioral Health Services

    Adolescents and children with behavioral and emotional disturbances have different needs than adults. University Pavilion provides treatment to young patients (ages 4 to 17) with acute conditions that require 24 hour supervision. Psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, and recreational therapists assist patients with understanding mental illness, developing coping skills, and making better decisions.

    Adult Inpatient Behavioral Health Services

    University Pavilion features three separate adult units to address the full spectrum of adult care. Inpatient Care is provided to patients with symptoms so severe they require 24 hour supervision and behavioral health treatment. The inpatient treatment helps stabilize, diagnose, and treat the condition. A full range of services including psychiatry, psychiatric nursing, counseling, psychotherapy and therapeutic activities that are available to help patients develop strategies for minimizing symptoms, reducing stress, making better decisions, and coping with their emotions.

    The Center for Geriatric Behavioral Health

    The Center for Geriatric Behavioral Health is designed to treat and improve the lives of adults 65 years and older who are suffering from depression and other psychiatric diseases. Special care is taken to meet our patients emotional and physical needs to assure their safety and well-being while in our care. For the aging populations, The Center for Geriatric Behavioral Health offers two distinct programs; The Senior Adult Unit and the Senior Intensive Treatment Unit.

    The Senior Adult Unit is designed for those who have a high degree of functioning prior to the onset of psychiatric symptoms. Our treatment programs focus on achieving stability and recovery in a relatively short stay.

    The Senior Intensive Treatment Program is designed for patients who are in need of a more specialized course of treatment and typically stay an average of 10-12 days. Our team of dedicated professionals develop a course of treatment based upon the individual needs of the patient.

    Electro-Convulsive Therapy

    Electro-Convulsive Therapy is a treatment option for patients with severe conditions that do not respond favorably to pharmacological interventions. Patients who believe they may benefit from this treatment should consult with their current provider of psychiatric treatment for advice on possible benefits from this option.

    Partial Hospitalization Program & Intensive Outpatient Therapy

    The PHP/IOP program provides comprehensive psychiatric care in a less restrictive environment than an inpatient program. Patients participate in treatment during the day and return home each afternoon. Treatment focuses on developing coping skills to deal more effectively with daily living, prevent relapse, and foster ongoing recovery.

    The Pavilion, located on the grounds of West Palm Hospital, offers comprehensive psychiatric and behavioral health services at its 88-bed inpatient unit. Psychiatric needs of children, adolescents, adults and seniors are assessed and treated through a full range of programs, including individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, medication management and aftercare.

    Patients at the Pavilion are cared for by a highly trained and compassionate team of physicians, nurses, social workers and therapists who share a commitment to guide and support our patients down the path to recovery.

    Inpatient and outpatient programs are offered, with programs for children/adolescents, adults and seniors.

    Inpatient Services

    For Youths
    The Youth Services Program is a 27-bed inpatient psychiatric unit that treats children and adolescents between the ages of 3 and 17. The program offers behavioral, individual, group and family sessions that are conducted for every child and family by a masters’ level Social Worker. The ultimate goal of the Youth Services program is to assist young persons in regaining their optimal level of functioning. Medicaid and most major insurances are accepted.

    For Adults
    The Adult Services Program offers two separate units, Acute and Adult. The Acute Unit is specifically designed for adult patients who need extra care and attention in order to assure their safety. The age range for the Adult Unit is between 18 and 65. Patients participate in behavioral, individual and group therapy. The therapeutic environment is designed to both challenge and support patients’ efforts toward restoring mental health and recovery.

    For Seniors
    The Senior Services Program offers treatment for adults 65 and older in a safe and secure, warm and friendly setting. Seniors receive medication management, family and caregiver support, personal care assistance and clinical therapeutic services. The Seniors Unit is also equipped to treat patients with medical needs.

    Outpatient Services

    Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
    The Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), a day treatment program for adults and seniors, provides comprehensive therapy so patients can maintain their normal daily activities at home in the evenings and weekends. Treatment modalities, led by a psychiatrist and a professional interdisciplinary team, include individual and group therapy, medication management, and education.

    Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
    The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), an evening co-occurring diagnosis treatment program, designed to treat and improve the lives of adults suffering from both psychiatric disorders and addictions. Our goal is to help patients regain independence and control in their recovery from mental illness or co-occurring substance abuse. We help ensure that each patient receives the services and support necessary to continue their recovery after discharge.

    Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
    West Palm Hospital’s Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), for teens ages 13 through 17, is designed to provide behavioral health outpatient intervention for adolescents who have needs that are too complex to be effectively managed in an office outpatient setting. We provide individual and group therapy. Each child’s treatment is individualized based on specific behavioral goals identified and agreed upon by the family, child and professional staff.
